About Indian Ocean (IO) GOOS is an Association of marine operational and research agencies in the Indian Ocean Region. It was established to co-operate in promoting GOOS in the Indian Ocean region during an Indian Ocean Principals' Meeting held on November 8-9, 2001 in New Delhi, India. Background IOGOOS was formally established on November 5, 2002. 19 organizations from 10 countries have become Members of IOGOOS and agreed to collaborate and work together for the implementation of GOOS in the Indian Ocean and for promoting activities of common interest for the development of operational oceanography in the region. Governance The formation of IOGOOS was declared by the "Delhi Statement" signed in 2001 between participating Indian Ocean Member Countries and the IOC. The nineth meeting of IOGOOS was held in South Africa in October 2012. Click here for details.
